ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis County residents have long seen the County's logo in Blue and/or Green during their lifetime, with the most recent logo seeing County in bold font colored in green, with Missouri also in bold, with dark blue.
That logo will be no more as St. Louis County has unveiled a new logo Wednesday.
St. Louis County executive Sam Page unveiled the new logo during his State of the County Address Wednesday.
“The logo serves as a cohesive symbol of Saint Louis County, bringing our brand tagline “Opportunity Central” to life,” Dr. Page said. “Our region’s population has been stagnant for decades. We can’t compete against ourselves. We must work as one. We want the Austins, the Nashvilles, and the other metro regions that have done a fine job of branding themselves to know that we see you, but we are also competing with you.”
The County says in designing the new logo, they wanted to combine two traditional St. Louis elements when designing it: A fleur-de-lis to nod to St. Louis's French roots and a woven circle design to represent the Missouri, Mississippi and Merman rivers that border the county.
The County says the new logo will give a stronger and more consistent voice for all county governmental agency communications, along with making promote the county more as a desirable destination for visitors, businesses and future residents more effectively.
Page also announced alongside the new logo will also be a new county slogan: Opportunity Central. The slogan the county says serves as "an invitation for businesses to come and thrive, a call for families to make their homes in the area or a destination for visitors to come to relax, learn, eat, play."
