Attorney's for St. Louis County Executive Sam Page and the Attorney General's office have agreed to change the venue of the trial to Greene County. Page's Attorney Matthew Radefeld says they want to see a fair trial for their client.
"The citizens of St. Louis County, who would be serving as the jurors if this matter would to stay in St. Louis County... they would be the ones to hear the case as to whether or not Dr. Page had allegedly stolen from them."
Radefeld says both sides initially proposed two different counties, each more favorable to their side, before settling on Greene County.
"We initially proposed a particular jurisdiction that they kind of laughed about because of the fact that [Attorney General] Andrew Bailey was having some issues [there]."
Radefeld says a judge still needs to approve the change of venue but with both sides in agreement that should be a formality.
A spokesperson for Attorney General Andrew Bailey's office confirmed the agreement.
Page is charged with felony stealing and election offenses for allegedly using taxpayer dollars for a partisan piece of mail to discourage voters from approving proposition B. Radefeld maintains his client's innocence.
