St. Louis County Executive Sam Page has declared a state of emergency after record rainfall and flooding created damage throughout the county. He said this enables the state to ask for federal funding, providing relief for residents with flood damage.
"We're still counting and we expect that to get worse, with another four inches of rain coming, with yards and fields already soaked with water," Page said. "We know that this is gonna get worse before it gets better. It's supposed to rain all week."
Page said there were no deaths or injuries as a result of the floods. He added that Congresswoman Cori Bush has already notified the White House of the County's declaration. People who are in need are encouraged to call the United Way at 2-1-1.
Governor Mike Parson released a statement Tuesday. He said Missouri's Emergency Management Agency and Public Safety are are coordinating with local agencies to provide additional assistance as needed to protect people. The Governor is on an international trade mission, so Lieutenant Governor Kehoe will act on his behalf.
