A man has been arrested and charged in last week's double shooting on Cherokee Street.

Police say 33-year-old Darion Benton opened fire on a Cinco de Mayo crowd last Saturday. Two people were injured.

Benton, and a female suspect, were seen on surveillance video that was shared on social media. Even though the woman was pointing a gun, the Circuit Attorney's office refused to prosecute, citing lack of evidence.

Benton faces charges of first degree assault and armed criminal action. He reportedly admitted to firing the gun.
