Alderwoman Sharon Tyus was caught on video threatening to "put a bullet in [the] head," of Alderman Rasheen Aldridge. Aldridge says Tyus's hateful rhetoric is known and expected, but says the threat of violence rises to another level.
"I dropped my mouth and was like, did she just say bullet in the head."
Aldridge says he is concerned citing today's political environment.
"I don't know what other folks may do that hears those comments... and may want to act on them. Maybe they don't like me, maybe they're a fan of Alderwoman Tyus."
Aldridge says he has seen video of the entire meeting where Tyus's comments were made. He says the meeting was with residents of the Homer G. Phillips Senior Apartments, where Tyus has introduced legislation to transfer the ownership to a new company. However, Aldridge says Tyus was upset when she found out he was working on similar legislation, after she took no action on her bill since May.
Aldridge says these comments deserve some type of consequence, either from the Board of Aldermen or himself, telling the Chris and Amy show he will be requesting criminal charges.
In a statement to KMOX, Alderwoman Tyus explains her comments by saying it was an analogy from a conversation they had three years ago when the Board took away her power of seniority. She also does not apologize in the statement, which spelld Rasheen Aldridge 'Rashid' Aldridge.
Aldermanic President Megan Green has released a statement, denouncing the comments and introducing a resolution, asking Tyus to apologize and threatening to censure her if she does not.
