St. Louis Aldermen approve police oversight board

The St. Louis Board of Aldermen have voted to reinstate the Civilian Police Oversight Board.

This version of the Oversight Board will have a $1.3 million budget, 18 paid staffers, and a special unit that falls under the Circuit Attorney for investigating police misconduct. There will also be a commissioner of the unit.


Back in August Mayor Jones signed the first bill, but then both the Police Officer's Association and Ethical Society of Police filed suits. There's still no court date.

The new bill now goes to the Mayor for approval.
