There is a void of policing experience on the board, with Governor Kehoe saying this board will not dictate how the police do their jobs.

"The Chief is the Chief," said Governor Kehoe, "he and his command staff will run the city department. The board is not gonna run crime fighting... The Chief and his team have done a great job."

Governor Kehoe wants to see the new board tackle the biggest problem facing the Department.

"The number one objective is starting to work with the Chief and the Command staff on what they can do to attract and also retain men into the City Police Department."

Asked how they will measure the success of the board over the coming years, Governor Kehoe pointed to crime metrics and "investment back into the city," with jobs and population growth also being viewed as metrics Kehoe will watch.
