"When I ran for the seat, I agreed to do it for four years. My term is coming to an end," says Fitch.
Fitch says there could be "some other office" he'll seek in the future, but he declined to say more at this time.
Former Fenton Mayor Dennis Hancock has filed to run as a Republican to fill Fitch's council seat.
