A pipe burst on the 9th floor Sunday evening at 5:45 p.m. and ran down six floors to the command center on the third floor. Spokesman for the County Doug Moore details the extent of the damage.

"It doesn't look like it's significant. Luckily they caught it in time before it flooded out."

According to Moore detainees held where water had leaked did not have to be relocated.

"We had some volunteers who were able to immediately mop it up and get it to a point where we didn't have to remove any of the residents." More said. "[The water] didn't disrupt operations."

Moore adds the detainees "still have access to water for drinking and toilets. The jail leadership is assessing the damage and will have a better sense in the next day or two of how significant that is."

The Clayton Fire Department responded and shut the water off within ten minutes.
