3 people shot in Oakville area of South County according to police

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Three people were shot in the Oakville area of South St. Louis County according to St. Louis County Police.

At around 1:15 p.m., officers responded to responded to a call for a shooting in the 5600 block of Chalet Hill Drive in South County. When they arrived they found three victims of the shooting. Their conditions are not yet known nor the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Parts of Chalet Hill at Baumgartner are blocked off due to police activity.

In response to the shootings, dismissals at four schools in the Mehlville School District near the area were delayed and schools temporarily went into lockdown. Those at Oakville High, Oakville Middle and Oakville Elementary School along with Wohlwend Elementary went into SECURE protocol, meaning no one can enter or leave school due to police activity in the area.

The incident is believed to have nothing to do with the schools, it was simply was taking them precautionary measures.

Mehlville School District says Oakville High and Middle were dismissed with extra supervision while Oakville Elementary and Wohlwend Elementary will remain on a SECURE until dismissal. They will use a controlled release and modified entry until dismissal time.

After-school activities at the schools are continuing as scheduled but will be moved indoors and bus delays should be anticipated.
