
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Fire Department says one person has died after being struck by an Amtrak train Wednesday morning.
According to the department, the incident took place close to the 4900 block of Connecticut Street.
According to Amtrak, at about 7:27 a.m., an individual was trespassing on Union Pacific tracks south of St. Louis came into contact with an Amtrak Train that was traveling from San Antonio to Chicago.
The person, who identity has not yet been revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The department says Truck Company 5 was first to arrive and Battalion 3 has taken over.
Amtrak says there have been no reported injuries to the 115 passengers or crew onboard. The train and its passengers continue on after the emergency responders complete their work.
Amtrak is working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident.
