
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A 132-year-old weather record has fallen in St. Louis. At 71 degrees this morning, the city broke the previous record for highest temperature recorded on Dec. 16.

The previous high was 70 degrees, set in 1889, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
A couple of new temperatures records were also set on Wednesday in the area. Columbia, Missouri and Quincy, Illinois easily surpassing the towns' previous records of 70, both set in 1948. Columbia hit 76 degrees and it was 75 in Qunicy.
Yesterday the area also saw powerful gusts as the NWS issued a high wind warning for an area stretching from New Mexico to upper Michigan, including Wisconsin and Illinois.
