Taylor, a St. Louis Community College Florissant Valley police officer was driving on Page and Academy to pick up his two children at the time of his death in June of 2008. Taylor was shot several times and died at the scene.

According to a probable cause statement, a witness, who said he was present at the time of the shooting, says Levy was one of the people shooting at Taylor. That witness says Taylor was believed to be from a rival gang and that he was mistakenly shot.

Two more witnesses, including a cousin of Levy's, later confirmed that Levy was the one who killed Taylor.

Levy was arrested Friday night, he's charged with First Degree Murder and is being held without bond.

Saint Louis Police have released the following statement:

St. Louis Community College expresses its gratitude to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and all law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation that led to the arrest of a suspect in the tragic killing of Officer Demond Taylor.

Officer Taylor, a respected member of the STLCC Police Department assigned to Florissant Valley Campus, was fatally shot in 2008. There was no indication that his shooting was related to his employment. We hope solving this case brings comfort to Officer Taylor's colleagues and family.
