ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Kamala Harris and Donald Trump met face to face for the first time Tuesday night in Philadelphia for a 90-minute debate.
On Wednesday morning, KMOX had political analysts Michael Kelley and John Hancock, hosts of 'Hancock and Kelley' along with John Shaw, SIUC Professor and director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute on the air to discuss their thoughts of the debate between Harris and Trump.
"Harris trounced (Trump) pretty decisively," said Shaw on 'Total Information A.M.' "She was in total command and was very very shrewd in rattling him."
"I think from literally the first seconds when she walked up to him and shook his hand, it seemed to me Trump was on his heels the whole night. She was shrewd, hit some of the sensitive buttons that had him rambling. It would be hard to even imagine the most ardent GOP spinmeister saying Donald Trump had a good night."
Hancock, a Republican Strategist who appeared on 'The Chris and Amy Show' gave his thoughts on the debate.
"Trump I thought started fairly strongly talking about economics and I thought he ended fairly strongly talking about what have you done for the last three and a half years," said Hancock. "But the hour and 25 minutes in between was clearly Kamala Harris and she clearly won that exchange."
Michael Kelley, a Democatic political strategist in Missouri, gave his thoughts on Trump's performance in the debate.
"If Joe Biden's performance at the debate a month and a half ago was a 10 on the disaster scale, I think we witnessed an 8 or so for Donald Trump," said Kelley on 'The Chris and Amy Show'. "The first two subjects (border and economy) that they tackled were right in his wheelhouse, but the biggest takeaway from the evening is the cat eating and the ridiculousness of this man talking about his crowd sizes."
"I think most voters are exhausted and just saw a Harris campaign that was near perfect (Tuesday night)."
