Hall of Fame baseball writer Rick Hummel is dead. He was 77.
According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Hummel died in his sleep on Saturday morning after dealing with "a short, aggressive illness."
KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman says Hummel covered baseball for 50 years and was known as "The Commish."
