
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The findings of a new study didn't fare well for St. Louis, as the city was named the 2021 "Least Safe City in America." The study took into account things like COVID-19 deaths, assaults, unemployment rate and road quality.

WalletHub's new report found that St. Louis ranked last among more than 180 cities in the U.S. in its "Safest Cities in America" study. There were all ranked across three key dimensions: Home & Community Safety, Natural-Disaster Risk and Financial Safety. And there were 44 relevant metrics used to determine a city's ranking.
Here's where St. Louis ranked in some of those specific categories:
180th – Traffic Fatalities per Capita
173rd – Assaults per Capita
65th – Hate Crimes per Capita
124th – Unemployment Rate
40th – % of Households with Emergency Savings
113th – % of Uninsured Population
95th – Avg. COVID-19 Deaths in the Past Week Per Capita
St. Louis was also tied for first with Chicago, Washington D.C. and New York City for most law enforcement employees per capita.
