In the last 11 years, we've seen six years rank among the nine hottest years on record in St. Louis. That NWS data goes back 127 years.

It was even hotter for the rest of the U.S. The average national temperature of 54.5 degrees in 2021 was the fourth-hottest year on record. Six of the warmest years on record have all come since 2012.

The average temperature in St. Louis last year was 59 degrees, which is 1.6 degrees above the city's 30-year average. That included five days of new record-high temperatures and it was the third-warmest December in St. Louis history.

That's all in spite of a February that was the ninth-coldest in the city's recorded history.

As for precipitation, it was a near-average year for St. Louis with 42.48 inches of moisture. That was less than an inch above the annual average.
