SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - A St. Louis cyber security expert says Russian cyber criminals are trying to get noticed. Russian groups are using the same tactics they always have says Jonathan Tock, Vice President of SpearTip, they're just doing a lot more.
Tock says SpearTip is seeing more ransomware attempts and other efforts to cause disruptions on computer networks. "You're talking about thousands of attempts a second, across the United States, across all industries, that's happening constantly. "
He adds Russian groups are going after sectors that impact us the most. "You start at those transportation companies, you start at banks, you start at critical infrastructure. Those are the headlines and so those are the things that are typically targeted first."
