ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It may be a new concept for some, but the organic and natural wine market is continuing to grow. Almost 1-billion bottles of it are forecasted to be consumed in 2023.
Mike Fricker recently opened Grand Spirits Bottling Company on South Grand in St. Louis City. It's a natural wine bar and retail shop.
Hear Fricker explain the shop and the natural wine movement on Total Information AM.
Fricker's background is culinary. He was a chef for years and says over the past 10 or 15 years, people have gravitated toward farm-to-table and organic foods, but many people haven't thought of that when it comes to the wine they consume.
Grand Spirits' wine use no pesticides, fungicides or chemicals during the agricultural process because it's not good for people or for the planet, he says. There are no added sulfites or preservatives.

Fricker says wineries globally are moving toward organics and biodynamics, which is really a return to the way things used to be done. He says the use of chemicals for farm maintenance really began after World War II.
An expert on his products, Fricker can offer a wealth of knowledge and information on almost every bottle in his shop. Most bottles retail for $14 to $30 per bottle.
Aside from wine glass pours/flights, they also offer mezcal flights, vermouth and amaro pours.
