SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - What do sleep experts think about the renewed effort to make Daylight Saving time permanent? The Medical Director at the Sleep Lab at SSM health St. Louis Joseph Hospital in St. Charles says it makes more sense to stay with Standard time.

Dr. Thomas Siler says standard time -- or winter time -- is more closely aligned with the sun's progression and our body clock. Siler says another problem is the increase in heart attacks and strokes during this first week of Daylight Saving time.
The US Senate unanimously passed a bill that would end the practice of setting clocks back one hour in the fall and keep us on Daylight Saving time year round. Its prospect for passage in the House are uncertain.
