ST. LOUIS - A longtime staple of St. Louis is the Labor Day parade. However, the city has decide to ditch that in favor of new approach.

Pat White, St. Louis Council President joined Hancock and Kelley Friday to talk about what they are doing instead of a Labor Day parade.

White says that the city decided to change it up for Labor Day that instead of a parade, they will do a festival instead.

White says they took inspiration from other cities across the country who do a festival, like fellow Missouri city Kansas City.

"We decided to change it up a bit this year," said White, "We wanted to do something for the Union members and their families."

White says among the activities they will have at the festival includes Union musicians coming out to play for a couple hours, a tug-of-war contest, family friendly activities.

The festival will be Sunday, Aug. 27 from 12-4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Florissant Park in Florissant, Missouri.
