Bothered by daily scam calls? You're not the only one. But an effort put forth by state Attorneys General will put some of them to rest.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is one of eight state AGs who worked to take down a telemarketing company responsible for billions of robocalls.

The Texas operation, called Rising Eagle Capital Group, is accused of bombarding people with robocalls for things like health care and extended car warranties. Now, the men behind it are banned from any telemarketing.

Bailey said he supported the effort because he knows the importance of consumer protection, and that there's a team of professionals ready to investigate robocalls.

"This is about protecting Missourians and their right to privacy and their hard-earned dollars," Bailey said. "And I'm proud to be leading that effort."

The men behind Rising Eagle Capital Group tricked consumers by spoofing caller ID — and managed to reach people on the Do Not Call list. Bailey told KMOX that violations of the Do Not Call registry are the number one complaint to his office — he heard 39,000 in 2022 alone.
