After a 21 month renovation that required the rink to close last year, Steinberg Rink in Forest Park will officially reopen November 30th, with welcome weekend set for December 4-6. Dominik Jansky with Forest Park Forever tells KMOX the footprint of the rink and adjacent building remains the same but the experience will be enhanced.

"We completely replaced the ice plant and all the equipment," says Jansky, "the ground floor is going to have a fast casual cafe... to make it more comfortable to hang out, whether you're skating or not."

Jansky says one area that will not be fully operational day one is the restaurant planned for the second floor of the building, but it will still be available for people to hang out on. The restaurant is expected to open in the spring.

The experience won't end when winter comes to a close, with Jansky saying the space will be better utilized year round.

"There's a community lawn in-between the rink and the river that can have movie nights. The rink itself will have roller skating again but has flexibility for markets and wellness activities."

Work was also done to make the rink more accessible from Kingshighway.
