Stray bullet hits child in parking lot

Police recovered shell casings from a south St. Louis gas station parking lot where a 7 year old male was wounded

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A seven-year-old boy is is stable condition after being caught in the crossfire of gunshots at a south St. Louis gas station.

It happened on the parking lot of the BP station in the 1500 block of South Grand, just after seven Friday night.

The boy's father says he also was wounded, while trying to protect his three children from the gunfire.

The man's wife drove them to the hospital.

Officers recovered numerous shell casings from the scene.

St. Louis police reported five separate shootings in the city between late Friday afternoon and sunrise on Saturday. In one of them, a woman in her 20's was shot dead in the 3300 block of Arsenal. Police say a suspect was detained a short time later.
