ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Investigations are underway after two suspects were killed by police in separate incidents in north St. Louis County on Sunday. The shooting scenes are less than five miles apart.

The first shooting happened Sunday morning when officers were called about a man who had shot his neighbor. When they arrived to the home in the 2000 block of Coleridge in Jennings around 11 a.m. it was the second time they had been called.
George Hollins, 26, was shot and killed by police after he exited a side door of the home and fired at officers with a sawed-off shotgun, police say. They say he had shot his neighbor and was trying to burn down the home by lighting a molotov cocktail.
About two hours before, officers responded to the same home for a welfare check. Officers made contact with the man, but found “no criminal activity was occurring at the time," police say.
The police negotiation team also responded to the incident.
Police say no officers were injured. The officer who shot Hollins is 30-years-old and has six years of police experience, officials say.
The second incident happened Sunday in Ferguson when a man was killed by police after he fired shots at officers around 8:30 p.m., police say. No information about the man was released yet.
He was killed in the 600 block of Tiffin Avenue, about two blocks away from where officers with the Ferguson Police Department, St. Louis County Police Department and North County Police Cooperative responded. Four officers from multiple departments fired shots at the man, police say.
A Ferguson officer was first to respond to a call about a man with a gun. When he arrived, the suspect shot at the officer, police say. The officer was unhurt.
The officer called for backup and other officers rushed to the scene after an "officer in need of aid" call was sent, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Others searched the area and four officers confronted the suspect.
They exchanged gunfire, and struck and killed the suspect. No other officers were injured.
Police say they recovered a handgun. The officers who shot at the suspect were all between 26- and 40-years-old with the oldest having 16 years of police experience and the youngest with two years of experience.
