ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - After a long winter break, Ted Drewes reopened on Thursday and a line was quickly formed outside the 81-year-old historic business on Chippewa. Despite the temperature hovering around freezing, people showed up from all over.

We spoke to one woman who came all the way from Quincy, Illinois to be there on opening day.
Another man from out of town was in line said he was there to order a Turtle concrete – which has hot fudge, caramel, and pecans. He says he's in the area because he had a procedure at a hospital in St. Louis that morning.
"I said, 'As soon as I got out of the hospital, this is where we're coming,'" he said. "(My doctor) said 'Get a large ice cream.'"
It was no surprise visit for many. One woman said she's been waiting all winter for this day – which Ted Drewes announced on its Facebook page.
"I got my supply of Ted Drewes concrete (before they closed), now I'm coming back to get more supply," she says. "I got three quarts and a container of caramel."
It's a "joy of summer" in St. Louis that's now back open weeks before the first day of spring. The Chippewa location is now open daily at 11 a.m., but the Grand location is still closed for the off season.
