REYNOLDS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) - More details are coming out about the teenager who fell from a slippery bluff and died over the weekend at Johnson Shut-Ins State Park in Missouri.
Park Rangers say she passed signs that stated "No Trespassing" and walked into a restricted area. The woman has been identified as 18-year-old Mariah Schramm of Kansas City.
She died on Saturday afternoon after falling onto rocks in the water below. Authorities say she was planning to jump off a cliff, but then changed her mind and slipped.
“It’s ok to swim in the area but not ok to be on the bluffs. That’s where the ‘No Trespassing’ signs are. It’s attractive to (people) because it’s a place to jump from,” said chief ranger of the Missouri State Park Rangers, Colonel Thomas G. Dresner told Fox 2.
