It happened near N. Grand and Page Boulevards around 3:45 p.m. Police say the 16-year-old and 14-year-old victims had just walked off the bus when they noticed they were being followed.

The suspect wearing a black mask approached the victims "in a threatening manner" and then fired at them, hitting the 16-year-old in the ankle, police say. The victims were able to run away and were found by police a few blocks away near N. Grand Boulevard and Cook Avenue.

The suspect, described as a Black male, with short haircut and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, was not apprehended. Police say an investigation is ongoing.
