ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's twenty years in prison for a 21-year-old man who was sixteen at the time he shot and killed a retired St. Louis police sergeant in a carjacking near Tower Grove Park.
The circuit attorney's office announced Monday that Jalynn Garner accepted a plea deal on counts of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action.
Garner's case had been pending since late 2019 when he withdrew a guilty plea after learning he wouldn't be eligible for juvenile-related sentencing.
Garner's 15-year-old accomplice in the killing of retired Sgt. Ralph Harper is eligible for parole at age 21 if he completes a juvenile detention program.
