ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis officials are on edge following a Father's Day shooting downtown that left one teen dead and nine other teenagers wounded.
It happened just after one Sunday morning at 1409 Washington Avenue. Police Chief Robert Tracy said there was a party on the fifth floor of what's supposed to be office space. All the kids were under 20, half of them from outside the city, according to Tracy.
One suspect is in custody, and the department's homicide unit is investigating.
"Multiple firearms were recovered at the scene," said Tracy, "including AR-style rifle pistols as well as a handgun."
Mayor Tishaura Jones had a stern message for families.
"Downtown is not a one a.m. destination for your 15-year-old," said Jones. "It's not a place to drop your children off unsupervised."
Jones and Tracy called for stricter gun measures, particularly an ordinance that would prohibit juveniles from carrying firearms.
