ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones has already spoken with Governor Mike Parson about replacing Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner.
Jones says she has a great working relationship with Governor Parson...but right now, it has to be determined what the office needs. "We need a caretaker, someone who's going to A, assess what the office needs try to put all of those pieces together and hand off the office to whoever gets elected in 2024."
Jones believes whomever takes over when Kim Gardner leaves, should not be the same person her runs in 2024.
The Mayor also says her focus is on getting a comprehensive over-view of what the Circuit Attorney's office needs first. And she is not in agreement with Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey that Gardner should leave immediately. "I think she needs to be there to work with us, work with the Governor's office to help transition the office to the next person."
