ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - There will be no capacity restrictions at The Muny when the theater in Forest Park reopens for shows next month.
It was announced on Facebook that The Muny will operate at full capacity for both paid and free seating areas this summer. The first show in what will be a 23-month intermission will be "Smokey Joe's Cafe" starting July 26.
Last month, The Muny announced its five-show lineup of "Smokey Joe's Cafe," "Sound of Music," "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," "On Your Feet," and "Chicago." Two shows that were supposed to be part of the lineup – "Sweeney Todd and "Mary Poppins" – have been moved to the 2022 season.
"This delayed start allows for the health landscape to continue to improve and hopefully provides comfort and certainty for theatre-goers joining us this summer. The previously-announced sanitation guidelines for The Muny’s 103rd season remain in place," The Muny stated on its website.
New subscriptions for the 2021 five-show season will be available beginning June 7, with single tickets going on sale July 12.
