A ribbon-cutting and celebration this morning at Tower Grove Park for the completion of several major projects that were part of the historic landmark park's Common Ground Campaign.

The Event Support Building will serve as a welcome for cyclists completing (or starting) a journey on the Tower Grove Connector that connects to Cortex and the rest of the Brickline Greenway. It includes event space, new restrooms, a bike repair station and a Rockwell Beer Garden. The Director's Croquet Garden offers another space for private events. Additionally four of the park's historic pavilions dating back to the 1870s were fully restored.

"These improvements not only serve park visitors, but also the broader, regional bike network," said Sarah Arnosky Ko with Greater St. Louis, Inc. "Spaces like this help attract and retain companies, contributing to the economic development and long-term vitality of the region."

Mayor Cara Spencer said it seemed like just yesterday everyone was gathered for the groundbreaking, and less than a year later, they're cutting the ribbon.

Spencer was asked to tap the inaugural keg and pour the first cup of Rockwell Beer.

"I will have to say, this 10 a.m. beer start time is a new one for me," Spencer joked. "And I'm always happy to try new things."

The Common Ground Campaign raised $20-million dollars. Several other buildings are part of phase 2.
