AFFTON, Mo. (KMOX) - St. Louis can again get "golf ready" in south St. Louis County as the famous Tower Tee driving range and recreation center is having a "partial soft opening" Wednesday.

The facility in Affton announced late on Tuesday that golfers can use 53 of its new bays – 33 of which will be heated and 13 will have "Toptracer" technology. The putting green will also be open, as well as a beer garden with a TV and fireplace.
They'll be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. this winter.
After the original Tower Tee closed in 2018 after 50 years of operation. It was set to become a neighborhood when the land was purchased by McBride & Son Homes, but the community fought it and the St. Louis County Council allowed for public input as to what it would become.
Then in stepped two Affton natives, Steve Walkenbach and Mike Shamia, who bought the land.
Walkenbach said he wanted to "pay it forward" to the Affton community. They soon announced plans for a brand new golf, batting cage and recreational facility.
When it fully opens in the spring, there will be a par 3 golf course, short game precision area, FootGolf, mini golf, batting cages, bocce ball and more.
