Police arrest 18-year-old man involved in Clayton homicide

CLAYTON, MO (KMOX) - The Major Case Squad of St. Louis have arrested an 18-year-old man in relation to the murder of a Clayton man earlier this week.

Police say Trenell Johnson ,18, placed into custody early Thursday morning in relation to the murder of 41-year-old Joshua Harris.

Johnson faces charges of second degree murder and armed criminal action, both are felonies.

and others were observed on surveillance video breaking into several vehicles early Monday morning.

Harris observed people trying to break into his wife's car and confronted the suspects. Video shows several shots were fired from A White Chrysler 300, which police say Trennell Johnson was in. Johnson was then seen on video, exiting the Chrysler.

Johnson was placed in custody and should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or have information, call 911.

Johnson is facing Second Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action Charges. He is currently being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center, with no bond.

On Nov. 13, Clayton Police Department received a call for shots fired in the 7500 block of Wydown Blvd. When officers arrive they found Harris deceased at the scene.

Johnson and others were captured on surveillance video breaking into several vehicles blocks from the victim’s residence around 10 – 15 minutes prior to the shooting.

According to the probable cause statement, Harris observed people trying to break into his wife’s car and confronted the suspects. Video shows several shots were fired from a White Chrysler 300, which police say Johnson was in. Johnson was then seen on video, exiting the Chrysler.

The investigation still remains active as the Major Case Squad have not yet found Johnson accomplices and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying additional persons of interest.
