At noon Friday, westbound 270 was completely closed past the I-70 split in Madison County. By 12:10, it appeared one lane of traffic was getting by.
A semi-truck rolled over. Drivers were being sent off to I-55 from 270, but you're asked completely to avoid the area if possible. This also has had ramps from 55 north to 270 completely closed.
An eyewitness tells KMOX News that the second trailer on a "tandem" semi with a UPS logo began swaying and sideswiped another semi truck, ripping the side open. The tandem semi then flipped on the interstate.
Traffic cameras indicated vehicles were backed up past Illinois Route 143.
Again, westbound 270 was completely closed midday Friday near Edwardsville.
