Voice of Caring: Independence Center

A non-profit rehabilitation program for adults with severe mental illness in the St. Louis area

Independence Center of St. Louis

Independence Center is a non-profit rehabilitation program for adults with severe mental illness in the St. Louis area -- and is nationally recognized for its Clubhouse model of psychosocial rehabilitation. Work-readiness and socialization at the Clubhouse prepare members with life skills.

Founded by friends and family of adults with severe mental illness, advocacy is at the heart of what we do. We work to eradicate the stigma around mental illness, and believe that with proper psychiatric care and resources people with mental illness can recover to live self-fulfilling and productive lives.
