Medical Director of Washington University's Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Unit, Dr. Rachel Presti, says they want to know if this omicron-specific booster is safe and capable of eliciting a strong immune response.

"Is it helpful at all? And I think actually you would think it's better to get a vaccine that's against the virus that's currently around. But it's not totally clear that that's the case," Presti says. "It's not clear yet whether or not another dose of even that original booster may give you the same response as a booster with these sort of variants."

Dr. Presti says they're looking for people who have already received 2 or 3 Moderna doses to enroll. For more information on the trial you can call Washington University at 314-454-0058.
