ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Democratic National Committee is holding its fall meeting here in Saint Louis. Vice President Kamala Harris will attend the meeting and is expected to speak Friday night.
What does this all mean? KMOX asked Doctor Don Heidenreich, a political science professor at Lindenwood University.
He says Saint Louis may have been picked because the DNC may view U.S. Senator Josh Hawley's seat as vulnerable.
"The Vice President coming, specifically to St. Louis, I think is going to be significant in that they're trying to fire up the democratic base and work harder to get him defeated in the 2024 election," Heidenreich says.
Heidenreich goes on to tell KMOX, rarely do VP's make headlines nationally at such events, but she could score points locally if she takes questions from the media.
Aldermanic board president Megan Green is also expected to speak at the poverty caucus.
