On Friday's "Whole 'Nother Story," KMOX's Kevin Killeen headed to a hill near the Hampton exit of I-44 to speak with some men living in tents in the area.
As temperatures dipped below zero before Christmas, one man, Richard, told Kevin he wasn't afraid of freezing.
"I had four sleeping bags and my hand warmers and I stayed pretty warm," he said.
Another man, Steve, told Kevin the story of how he ended up living in a tent on Hampton. He's a former union insulator, who lived with his wife and kids. The thing that led to his downfall: Fentanyl.
"I had a $250,000 house, a pool in the backyard, a boat in the driveway," he said. "Then I got a divorce, and I went downhill ever since."
