Comptroller Darlene Green last month testified to the Board of Aldermen around eighty eight million dollars were outstanding and need to be signed off on, and couldn't guarantee she would.

"There is no guarantee in life," Comptroller Green said, adding "what we want to do is guarantee that we're working towards the process, to get everything done"

In the weeks since her November testimony, the amount of money in need of Green's signature has been trimmed down significantly. As of Thursday evening, Green says there are $60 million has been submitted, with thirty five million missing some paperwork. Green says there is another six million which has not hit her desk yet.

Green did not sound concerned when discussing the missing paperwork, saying she expects to receive it by a Wednesday deadline she imposed. In fact, Green now believes she will have the entirety of the ARPA appropriations bills signed off ahead of the December 31st deadline.

"Absolutely, we're that we'll be able to sign off [on the remaining ARPA dollars]."

In fact, Green is so confident she says they could sign off on the entirety of the money ahead of Christmas.

"We believe that we could process the rest of this out by [this] week."

Green credits her office and the rest of the city's staff for this quick turnaround.

"There's been a lot of work from a lot of dedicated employees, from the Comptroller's office as well as throughout the city."

After the money is signed off, the city has until the end of 2026 to spend it.
