SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - Some suspenseful moments this summer at Circus Flora, the one-ring Circus near the Fox Theatre where the famous Wallenda family does their high-wire act -- without a net.

71-year old Tino Wallenda was asked if it's right for circus performers to risk their lives to entertain an audience eating popcorn, "for us, it's really more of a calculated risk. We don't look at it as putting our lives on the line. There's potential danger there, but there's potential danger of getting behind the wheel." Wallend performs in the high-wire act, twenty feet up, without a net. "It's sort of a normal thing. I've been doing it for... ...65 years that I've been walking the tightrope."
The family-friendly, high-paced shows feature a trapeze act, clowns, a woman standing atop two galloping ponies, and live music. Circus Flora runs through July third with nightly shows Tuesday through Friday at seven, and two shows, including a matinee , Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It's located on Washington Avenue, a few blocks east of Grand.
