A worker was killed in Swansea Friday morning after being crushed by hydraulic machinery, according to the Swansea Police Deartment.
The 59-year-old man was working at Century Castings Corporation when he was killed around 6:00 a.m. Swansea officers arrived at the scene within one minute.
In a Facebook post, the police department wrote that workers and officers used a large bry to lift the machine off the man. Emergency services were called but the man eventually ended up succumbing to hsi injuries.
The police department said that OSHA investigators and a Swansea detective are set to conduct a full investigation of the situation. The name of the victim will be released after all his family members are notified.
In their Facebook post, the police department wrote, "Swansea Emergency Responders send their condolences to the family. Century Castings has been a long time employer in Swansea and employed generations of employees."
