ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - Hackers are going after your account information in a "novel" way. Malicious e-books could hijack your Amazon Kindle reader.

Check Point Research found the vulnerability and says it could be used in a variety of ways. "Victims would need to simply open a single malicious e-book to trigger the exploitation," explains an article on the company's website. Hackers could wipe out your Kindle device, use it to gain access to your Amazon account, or even to convert the Kindle into a malicious bot, enabling it to attack other devices in your local network.

In the recent blog, Check Point says it alerted Amazon which sent out a software fix. If you own a Kindle, you need to make sure you install the latest software update.
