ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - NASCAR is set to make it's return to the World Wide Technology Raceway next weekend as it makes a stop to Madison, Illinois for the Enjoy Illinois 300.
The weekend at the race track will be a very busy weekend, as not only is the Cup Series and Truck Series, but NASCAR will have the Confluence Music Festival that will take place on June 1-2, which will feature rapper Ludacris, country music singer Riley Green and recently-retired Cardinals starter and club legend Adam Wainwright performing.
"It's a really special event, it's bringing together many different genres of music coming together to play over two days," said Curtis Francois, owner of World Wide Technology Raceway. "With three stages and a total of 30 artists, it's just amazing to see the list of who is all going to be there."
While a lot of fans will certainly enjoy seeing Wainwright perform at the festival, Francois says the race at World Wide Technology could be special too, with how wild the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series has been, seeing tight finishes in previous races at Kansas Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway.
"This year in NASCAR, you are seeing some of the closest finishes of all time, the racing is just fabulous," said Francois. "We're going to see something that I think will be thrilling for all the fans."
Francois says St. Louis racing fans have always shown up for the events at the racetrack, dating back to when the racetrack was initially only hosting NASCAR Truck Series and NTT IndyCar races right before the circuit was able to get the Cup Series onto the circuit in 2022.
"We have something special going on in St. Louis and what I believe is the best sports city in the country," said Francois. "When we sold out the first Cup race (in 2022), that validated it once again that St. Louis shows up for the big events."
