The wait is finally over — Yuengling beer is on tap in St. Louis.
The Pennsylvania brewing company is expanding further west, bringing its products to Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. Wendy Yuengling, Chief Administrative Officer for the company, joined KMOX to talk about what makes Yuengling special.
“Well, we're the oldest brewery in America. We're still family owned and operated. So I am sixth generation in the family business — I work alongside my three sisters and my dad,” Yuengling said. “So I think to be a 194 year old company and still be family owned and operated is pretty incredible in this day and age. So we're very proud of that fact. And we're excited that we're finally opening up the state of Missouri.”
Yuengling said the beers are known to be very easy to drink. “Our lager in particular is our flagship. So it's brewed with caramel malt; it's a dark amber beer, which is different. So it distinguishes it from a lot of the other beers that are out there,” she said.
After 194 years of existence, the beer is only in 23 states. But Yuengling said fans from Missouri have been coming to Pennsylvania and “clamoring” for the beer — so it made sense to make the move to the Show-Me state.
