SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI (KMOX) - Mayor Lyda Krewson issued an order Thursday night restricting private gatherings to no more than 10 people. The order comes ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Mayor tweeted, "Effective Saturday, November 14, ALL private gatherings in the City of St. Louis with more than 10 people are prohibited. Over the last few weeks, especially after Halloween, it's no secret we continue to see a resurgence of new #COVID19 cases and hospitalizations."

She went on to write: "In the City, contact tracing tells us transmission is primarily happening among friends, families, and neighbors via informal gatherings around homes and neighborhoods. About 50% of our new cases are folks in their 20's & 30's.
That's what's informing our approach right now. This means no house parties, dinner parties, celebrations and/or any other type of private social event or gathering.
We're also recommending that any such private gathering be limited to a consistent group of 10 or less, comprised of no more than 1 or 2 individual households. Health Commissioner's Order #15, issued tonight, does not replace any of our current health orders, which all remain in effect. We still need everyone to wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash your hands, work from home if possible, and keep your circles very tight."

It had been suggested Mayor Krewson would follow along with new restrictions being announced by Saint Louis County, but her explanation points to the area of concern, private gatherings.
