KANSAS CITY – A detective with the Clay County Sheriff's Office has been placed on leave while he’s being investigated for a social media post potentially violating professional standards, according to a spokesperson.

The post came shortly after the news broke that agents with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency had conducted a raid at a Liberty business.

The post featured a picture of President Trump with a comment reading “Time to put the ‘panic’ back in Hispanic.”

The Sheriff’s Office says they put Detective Tom Butkovich immediately on leave to investigate.

The Friday raid took place at El Potro Mexican Restaurant. Agents were reportedly looking for someone connected to a series of child sex crimes and in the process asked for the legal documents for employees there, twelve of whom were detained.
