ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Missouri Running Back Cody Schrader had a really game last weekend, shredding then-No. 13 Tennessee on the ground and in the air.
Schrader performance against Tennessee was just another performance from an excellent season by the Lutheran South Graduate and former Truman State-football player, with Schrader being one of the top rushers in the nation, rushing for 1124 yards this season with three games to go before his college career comes to a close.
Schrader is shaping to leave Mizzou with a bang and he might leave it with some hardware alongside it too as he was announced as a finalist Tuesday for the Burlsworth Trophy, which is given to the the nation's most outstanding college football player who began his career as a walk-on.
Schrader was one of three finalists to be announced Tuesday, with James Madison defensive lineman James Carpenter and Oklahoma wideout Drake Stoops also joining Schrader as finalists for the award.
Schrader has put up a tremendous season with the Tigers, leading the SEC conference in rushing yards, and his Tennessee performance only added to his breakout campaign, becoming the first player in SEC history with 200 yards rushing, 100 yards receiving in the same game and 10th ever in FBS History.
The winner of the 2023 Burlsworth Trophy will be announced Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. CST at the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, Arkansas.
