ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The University of Missouri Athletic Department says it has received a large donation from an anonymous donor to help with the renovations at Memorial Stadium.
On Thursday, Mizzou Athletic Director Laird Veatch announced the department received a $25 million donation from an anonymous donor to help with Memorial Stadium Improvements Project that is scheduled to break ground on Nov. 30, following Mizzou's last regular season home game of the season against Arkansas Razorbacks.
"This donation is a powerful testament to the passion and commitment of Mizzou supporters," Veatch said in a release. "It brings us closer to achieving our vision for the future of Memorial Stadium and signals that we are building something truly special here in Columbia. As Coach Drinkwitz's program continues to thrive in the Southeastern Conference, we will need more philanthropic leaders to join in supporting this transformational project and continue Mizzou's incredible momentum."
The donation marks the second time just in 2024, Mizzou has received an anonymous donation to help with the renovations for the Memorial Stadium project. Back in February, Mizzou Athletics received its largest donation ever for the program, a $62 million donation from an anonymous donor. $50 million of it will go to the project, while the remaining $12 million went to the Tiger Fund program for NIL purposes.
The $250 million Memorial Stadium Improvements Project, which was officially approved by University of Missouri Board of Curators in September, will see the addition of a new multi-level north concourse and will feature a wide variety of new premium seating options, along with modernized concessions, enhanced restrooms and a new stadium entry plaza.
The north concourse structure will total approximately 191,000 gross square feet, including 99,000 gross square feet of enclosed, climate-controlled areas.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2026 to coincide with the stadium’s 100th anniversary.
